Brady Tkachuk, Colin White and Ryan Dzingel scored within a 10-minute span in the third period Saturday night for the Ottawa Senators, who stormed back to earn a wild 6-4 win over the host Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Senators raced to a 2-0 lead but then gave up four unanswered goals before mounting their own four-goal comeback to win for just the third time in the last 10 games (3-5-2). The Lightning, who entered Saturday with the most points in the Eastern Conference, had their four-game winning streak snapped.
Tkachuk began the comeback 50 seconds into the third, when he won a five-player battle in the crease for a loose puck that he shot under the legs of Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy while Tampa Bay defensemen Victor Hedman and Dan Girardi each made futile attempts to swat away the puck.
Tkachuk was initially credited with the game-tying power play goal at 8:41 before replays showed White, who was next to Tkachuk, was the last player to get a stick on a shot by Bobby Ryan and tip the puck over the glove of Vasilevskiy.
Dzingel put the Senators ahead 109 seconds later, when he took a cross-ice pass from Matt Duchene and beat Vasilevskiy from point-blank range. Mark Stone iced the victory by scoring a power play goal with 12 seconds remaining.
Duchene and Ryan put the Senators ahead 2-0 by scoring in the first eight minutes of the first period. Goalie Craig Anderson made 24 saves.
Mathieu Joseph opened and closed a four-goal outburst for the Lightning that spanned a 26-minute stretch between the first and second periods. The multi-goal game was the first in the NHL for Joseph, who has scored all four of his goals in the last four games.
Hedman scored the tying goal in that span and Braydon Coburn put Tampa Bay ahead.
Vasilevskiy made 28 saves.
